Films: The Wasp Woman (1995)

Summary: You remember the story of how a woman's obsession with staying young turned her into a insectoid killer? Probably not, but it's happening again! And this time, the monster doesn't look like some Pokemon...well, maybe a Beedrill or a Vespiqueen, but's that's beside the point.
History: The story largely remains the same from last time. Cosmetics model Janice Starlin is feeling her age and about to be replaced, so she consults Dr. Zinthrop for a way to reverse the aged looks. She's given a special serum made from wasp queen hormones, and like before, she takes too much of it. The only difference is that this experimentation has also given rise to dog-sized killer wasps, and Janice's true form is a step above its predecessor...

Final Fate: As Janice is confronted in her cave full of victims, one woman manages to light a stick of dynamite and toss it towards her. Janice, having alienated her love and forsaken her morals, lights the rest of the sticks sadly as her victims make their escape. The cavern blows up with her, but there's still that problem with the other giant wasps out and about...
Powers/Abilities: Can apparently shapeshift into her monstrous form at any time, mostly at night. Her venomous sting is also rather potent.
Weakness: Anything conventional.
Scariness Factor: 3.5-The transformation sequences leave much to be desired, but this is a MAJOR step-up from whatever that thing was from 1959. Looking like a demented human-bug centaur, this femme fatale looks perfectly capable of tearing you to shreds, sometimes in the middle of love-making, no less!
Trivia: -Janice was played by Jennifer Rubin, an actress who was best known for her role in the third "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie. She was also in the documentary based on that franchise, "Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy", as well as many other roles.
-This film was directed by Jim Wynorski, who was an admirer of Roger Corman, having worked with him to get his start in film. He mostly made this film because of that, and said that his life would be complete if he ever got the chance to remake "Attack of the Crab Monsters". He was also fantastically awful and borderline sexist to Rubin, according to her. So that's where our reverence for him not just ends, but crashes and burns.
